Hi! I'm Aviana Cova, and I am thrilled to be this year's drama club president! This is my senior year at Highland, and I am taking Play/Musical productions, as well as Advanced/IB Theatre. I love dandelions, scary movies, playing the Sims, and, of course, performing! I can't wait for this incredible year!

Greetings and salutations! My name is Leif, and I am a proud Theater kid, debater, and Dungeon Master! I am in my Junior year and am in Advanced Drama and Play Productions. I am thrilled to be your VP for the coming year! Just find me if there's anything you need!

Q & A

What is your dream musical to do/tech?
My dream musical (aside from Hadestown, of course) would be either Waitress or Little Shop of Horrors (as long as I got to play a girl version of Seymour).

What is your favorite thing about theatre?
My favorite thing about theatre is getting to create an amazing final product with a group of people who are all so passionate and driven about what they do. I also love that theatre is both creatively and mentally stimulating, as well as being a place where I've made my closest friendships.

What theatre achievement are you the most proud of?
I'm the most proud of being a finalist for Best Actress in the Utah High School Musical Theatre awards my sophomore year as Jo March in Little Women!

What's your favorite hobby outside of theatre?
My favorite hobby outside of theatre is making any kind of crafty or creative projects, whether it's scrapbooks, designing posters, or making giant houses in the Sims!

What holiday is your favorite and why?

My favorite holiday is Valentine's Day because I love getting to remind the people in my life of how special they are to me :)

What is your dream musical to do/tech?

Definitely "She Loves Me". Look, I'm a guy who loves love so a little rom-commy musical like this is right up my alley, but from an acting point of view? Suits. They wear so many drop-dead gorgeous suits in that play that I simply must play George in order to wear that, soft gray three-piece with a double-breasted vest and matching French cuffs, suit.

What is your favorite thing about Theatre?

It's the best form of human interaction. Theatre simultaneously allows one to show off and quite literally take the spotlight whilst making the experience enjoyable for a wider audience. Social symbiosis in its best form. I feel that we could incorporate more of that type of relationship into society.

What Theatre achievement are you most proud of?

Probably my role as Black Stache in last year's "Peter and the Starcatcher". It was my first major foray into a leading role and required a lot of learning on my part. It exemplifies a broader trend in the improvement of my singing voice which is one of my biggest areas of improvement and something that I have seen a lot of growth in. Thanks, in no small part, to the Stache.

What's your favorite hobby outside of Theatre?

As is the case with many actors at Highland, DND. It's just another, more convoluted way to play a character and is something that also has the benefit of linking me to a flourishing community of geeks. Namely, many of the dorks present in Theatre classes this year...

What holiday is your favorite and why?

This might sound trite but...Halloween, obviously. For one, its very much like theatre in that costumes are the best. More personally though, both my sister and I were born around the holiday and, as a result, shared many a spooky birthday party around that time. So its a source of many fond memories for me.
